What Does it Mean "Christian Living" ?
A brief summary on the expectations for Christian Living is found in Acts 2, we read:
"Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers." (Acts 2:41-42)
A Christians life starts with the Gladly Receiving of the Word. This is salvation, the moment someone receives the "Word" of John 1 and accepts Him as their personal saviour, they are saved.
Christians should then follow in obedience, and be Baptized. This is the scriptural symbolic public testimony of a life changed by Christ, testifying that they have died to the world and are alive through the one who redeemed them by His blood.
An obedient heart should long to be added unto the local church. This step in obedience is a truly special privilege to be added unto an assembly of local believers gathering in the name of their Lord Jesus.
It is essential to the Christian life and testimony to Continue steadfastly. Believers should not be swayed about in Christian life as a branch is swayed in the wind. It is necessary to be grounded in the truths of the Scriptures and to follow them. A clear heart and a clean testimony will never hinder a Christian from continuing in the Meetings of a local church, fellowshipping in the breaking of bread and in prayers.
Thoughts of Devotion
"And they brought in the ark of the Lord, and set it in His place, in the midst of the tabernacle that David had pitched for it."
2 Samuel 6:17
*David had the responsibility to give a place to this Ark which contained the presence of God. May we always give the Lord His place in the midst.
More Thoughts...
... and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for LOOKING AFTER those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. And when these things begin to come to pass, then LOOK UP, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.
Luke 21:25-28
These verses present to us a choice. Either one will LOOK AROUND them and focus on the fear that is coming...
OR...
LOOK UP and focus on the Lord who is coming to redeem His people.
"Look not around to fail for fear. Look up redemption draweth near"
"Now the acts of David the king, first and last, behold, they are written in the book...with all his reign and his might."
1 Chronicles 29:29-30
* Even the greatest of men may have all their acts written in books, from the first to the last...but when it comes to the Lord Jesus, He is greater than the greatest. There is none before Him, His might is eternal and He shall reign forever.
"And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen."
John 21:25
