When i Met The Cure
The story of my conversion, sick in need of a saviour.
The story of my conversion, sick in need of a saviour.
I was sick at the time, had been for a few weeks. I had visited the doctor over the course of those weeks and he was unsure of a diagnosis, he was able to give me medication to help deal with it, but all we could hope for, was that it would go away on it’s own. The truth is however that the physical sickness I was dealing with was not the only problem. There was a deeper sickness I needed to recognize, and its a sickness that each person on this earth needs to recognize, and that is SIN. Sin is like a disease, it has been genetically passed down through the generations of humanity. Sin separates us form God, Sin demands judgement that the Bible describes as the “second death”. Unlike my physical unwellness at the time, sin does not merely go away on its own.
Sitting in a meeting where the Gospel was being preached, the passage was read 1 Peter 2:24
"Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed."
This verse spoke to me. “By whose stripes ye are healed”, that phrased echoed for the remainder of that meeting. I wished I could have been simply been healed of my physical condition but this verse I knew addressed someone who could heal me of a spiritual condition. Dear reader there is one in this world who can heal you from your condition of SIN. That is the Lord Jesus Christ who for the stripes of a roman lash, who bore the torture of a rugged cross, he is the one who bore away the sins of the world.
I was left at the end of that meeting wondering “how do I obtain the cure?” The answer to my question was provided on the wall of that building where a bible text was positioned. John 1:12 reads:
"But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:”
As my parents drove away from that service, in the back of the car I mused on that verse, then in prayer and in the earnestness of my soul, I simply thanked God for sending His Son to be my saviour. Quoting the words of a well known hymn I ended my prayer.
“I come, I come, I come to thee my God, I do thy love believe, I do accept thy gift of life and peace, I do thy Son receive.”
It seemed so simple, I wondered if this was really it. I was able to find assurance from Gods word. The scripture teaches that he who comes to Him will never be cast out, that’s all I did, that’s all I know and that’s all the Bible teaches.
“…and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out."
John 6:37
"Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved."
Acts 4:12
If you receive Christ, accept him as your saviour you can be cured from sin. My physical health did work itself own own its owns, your sin won’t. Your sin must be dealt with, Don’t put it off. Accept Christ.
"the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin."
1 John 1:7
